Max 0.7.1 is a powerful audio conversion utility that goes above and beyond the audio ripping capabilities of iTunes. For those who want a littany of options in their audio ripping, or prefer the use of a small utility rather than the very large iTunes application, Max 0.7.1 is a great and free alternative. Max is intended to be most useful in ripping audio data directly from compact discs, however the converter can also work on existing files on your hard drive. You could convert an MP3 file to a WAV file or an AIFF file to an AAC file. Importantly, Max supports a large variety of formats, some of which are not supported by iTunes. Thus, it could be a very valuable tool if you come across non-iTunes supported formats and would like to convert the files for use in iTunes.
